What is REIKI?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.  It is
administer by "laying on of hands" and is based on the idea that the unseen "life force energy" or Chi
flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.  If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more
likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy and
ward off diseases.
The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher
Power" and Ki which is "Life Force Energy."  So Reiki is actually "Spiritually guided life force energy."
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you.  Reiki treats the
whole person including body, mind and soul, creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and
feelings of peace, security and
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can
benefit from.  It has been effective in helping almost every known illness and malady and at the very
least always creates a beneficial effect of relaxation.  It also works in conjunction with all other medical or
therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
It has been widely used for helping cancer patients with the side effects of their radiation and
chemotherapy treatments.  Reiki emits a range of healing frequencies from 0.3Hz up to 30Hz.  There has
been scientific proof that 2Hz creates nerve regeneration, 7Hz can create bone growth and at 10Hz
begins to produce ligament repair.
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is NOT a religion.  It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must
believe in order to benefit from Reiki.  In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether
you believe in it or not, for it works at an energetic level.
While Reiki is not a religion, it is still important for the practitioner to live and act in a way that promotes
harmony with the world and others.  Dr. Mikao Usui, the founder of the Reiki system of natural healing,
recommended that one practice certain simple ethical ideals to promote peace and harmony, which are
nearly universal across all cultures.  I follow Dr. Usui's guidelines in my everyday life.
During a meditation several years after developing Reiki, Dr. Usui decided to add the Reiki Ideals to the
practice of Reiki.  The Ideals were developed to add spiritual balance to Usui Reiki.  Their purpose is to
help people realize that healing the spirit by consciously deciding to improve oneself is a necessary part
of the total Reiki healing experience.
In order for the healing energies to have lasting results, the client must accept responsibility for
his or her own healing and wanting change, then also by taking an active part in it by being at
least open to it.
Therefore, the Usui system of Reiki is more than the use of the Reiki energy.   The ideals are both
guidelines for living a gracious life and virtues worthy of practice for their inherent value.

The art of inviting Happiness into your life is the miraculous medicine for all diseases and
I share with you the Principles that I, as a Reiki Master lives by:

Just for today, I will not anger,
Just for today I will not worry, my heart is filled with Love & Gratitude.
I devote myself to my spiritual, healing work and I am kind to all creation.
Every morning and evening, I speak these words from my heart,
And chant these words with my mouth as I live my life as a Reiki Master and Teacher.
By the founder, Mikou Usui

These Principles are very important to me as I have taken an oath to practice them.  I am
honored to live my life as a Reiki Master and Teacher, following in the
footsteps of the Reiki founder, Mikou Usui.

Yale Study Shows Reiki Treatment Helps Heart Attack Patients
September 18, 2010 Posted By: Pamela Miles

Effects of Reiki on Autonomic Activity Early After Acute Coronary Syndrome. Rachel S.C. Friedman,
Matthew M. Burg, Pamela Miles, Forrester Lee, and Rachel Lampert J. Am. Coll. Cardiol. 2010;56;995-

In the above study, published in one of the most prestigious peer-reviewed conventional medical
journals, patients who received a 20-minute Reiki treatment within three days after suffering a heart
attack showed improved mood and heart rate variability (HRV). Let’s take a look at what this means in
nontechnical language.

A heart attack is a stressful event which, like other stressful events, also causes a stress response. A
stressed body is less resilient, less able to cope with more stress. This means a patient who has just had
a heart attack has a higher risk of having another one. Doctors are well aware of this dangerous cycle,
and helping the body recover its resilience is a primary goal in cardiac care.

Recovering after a heart attack:
That’s why standard hospital care after a heart attack includes beta blockers; drugs that help the body
recover its resilience. But beta blockers work slowly, and some patients cannot tolerate them.

The Yale researchers wondered if a non-pharmacologic intervention might be just as effective, work
faster, be safe for all patients–and even help patients feel better.
In the high-tech acute cardiac care setting, why would doctors be interested in patients feeling better,
because subjectively, feeling better is known to have objective effects on health. It is well documented
that emotional stress negatively affects autonomic nervous system (ANS) function, and therefore heart
disease (ANS controls heart rate).

This randomized, controlled study looked at non-invasive, nondrug interventions to help patients recover
faster from a heart attack. The study had three arms:
        Group 1 (12 patients) rested quietly without interruption.
        Group 2 (13 patients) listened to slow tempo, meditative, classical music.
        Group 3 (12 patients) received 20-minute Reiki treatment from Reiki-trained staff nurses.

Patients were measured initially for baseline, and again after the intervention, and the two sets of
measurements were compared. The measurements from all groups were then compared to the others.

The impact of the intervention (rest, music, or Reiki) was measured in two ways, emotional state and
heart rate variability (HRV), a physiologic measure that indicates if the patient’s body is recovering from
the stress response.

The patients rated themselves on both positive states (happy, relaxed, calm) and negative states
(stressed, angry, sad, frustrated, worried, scared, anxious).

Reiki study results:
Reiki treatment improved all positive emotional states and reduced all negative states. Comparing the
three groups, the Reiki group had the most positive changes in emotional state, and the resting control
had the least.

Reiki treatment also improved HRV. The benefit shown was comparable to that seen in a study of beta

Additionally, the study showed that Reiki treatment can be offered in an acute-care setting. This is
important. Sometimes interventions are found to be helpful but they are not feasible in a real life care
setting. None of the patients experienced any adverse events.

In this study, Reiki treatment significantly improved mood and HRV compared to the resting and music
control conditions. Much more research is needed. But this is a good start in showing the benefits of
(Especially good for people dealing with chemotherapy/radiation treatments)
1. One of the greatest health benefits is it balances the endocrine system by helping to regulate
hormones that affect many bodily functions, including stress/anxiety relief, insomnia relief, and

2. Reiki stimulates immune system to increase the healing abilities of the body by producing more t-cells
and assisting the lymphatic system.

3. It helps the body balance all of the blood cleansing organs by helping them release and eliminate

4. Helps bring about inner peace and harmony. It can be valuable tool in the quest for spiritual growth.

5. Reiki balances the mind and emotions. Regular Reiki treatments can bring about a calmer and more
peaceful state of being, in which a person is better able to cope with everyday stress. This mental
balance also enhances learning, memory and mental clarity.

6. Reiki can help heal mental/emotional wounds, help alleviate mood swings, fear and frustration.

7. It can also strengthen and help heal personal relationships. Because Reiki enhances your capability
to love, it can open you up to the people around you and help your relationships grow. By improving
your capacity for empathy, Reiki allows you to connect with people on a deeper level.

8. Reiki helps in the grieving process. It helps clear emotional distress and sorrow, preventing them from
being so draining and opens you up to a clearer perspective.

9. On the physical level, Reiki helps to relieve pain from migraine, arthritis, sciatica, just to name a few.
It also helps with symptoms of asthma, chronic fatigue, menopausal symptoms, and insomnia.

10. Reiki speeds up recovery from surgery or long-term illness. As it helps in adjusting to
medicine/treatment, it also tends to reduce side-effects. Chemotherapy patients who received Reiki
noticed a marked decrease in side effects from their treatments.

11. Reiki can be an effective way to treat immediate problems, such as physical recovery before and
after surgery, but regular treatments can also improve overall health. By helping to maintain a state of
physical and emotional balance, Reiki can not only treat problems, but assists the body in preventing
them from developing.

When the flow of the “Life Force Energy” is disrupted, weakened or blocked, emotional or health
problems tend to occur.
Imbalances can be caused from many situations occurring in our lives,
such as: emotional or physical trauma, injury, negative thoughts and feelings, including fear,
worry, doubt, anger, anxiety, negative self-talk, toxicity, nutritional depletion, destructive lifestyle
and relationships, neglect of self and lack of love for oneself, emotions that are not expressed in a
healthy way.
Reiki heals by flowing through the electromagnetic field and the affected parts of the body by charging
them with positive, healing energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the
physical body where the negative thoughts, feelings, memories and impressions have settled & attached
over your lifetime. This causes the negative energies to break up and fall away. Reiki clears and heals
the energy pathways, allowing the life force energy to flow in a healthy and natural way.
During a Reiki session, the person experiences an increase in the flow of life force energy. In this state
Reiki cleanses the body of built-up toxins, relieves pain, calms the mind and relaxes the muscles,
releases pent-up emotions and accelerates the body’s natural ability to heal itself.  They may feel heat
or cold, a buzzing feel or a deep calm. Each person can feel the energy differently, there is no one way.

We are now seeing Reiki integrated into western medicine all over the country. The National Institutes for
Health, through their division of Complimentary & Alternative Medicine have conducted research into the
use of Reiki in various clinical settings, and continue to fund studies aimed at understanding how Reiki
can be used along with traditional medicine to enhance patient outcomes.
Reiki is now widely practiced in the western world, particularly in the US & parts of Europe. Reiki
practitioners can now be found working in hospitals where they assist patients during critical medical
procedures. Dr. Mehmet OZ, (of the Dr. Oz show) who is one of the leading cardiovascular surgeons in
the US was one of the first to include a Reiki practitioner in his department at the Columbia Presbyterian
Medical Centre in NYC where he runs the heart assist device program and complementary care center.
The New York Times magazine reported that Dr. Oz has allowed the use of Reiki during open heart
surgeries and heart transplant operations. Says Dr. Oz: Reiki has become a sought-after healing
modality among patients and mainstream medical professionals.
Since 1998, the Columbia/HCA Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, NH had been giving their
surgical patients the option of a pre and post-surgery Reiki treatment. As a result of this, those who took
advantage of the offered treatments noticed less use of pain medication, shorter length of stay in the
hospital and an increase in patient satisfaction.
In the Reiki Clinic at Tucson Medical Center in Arizona, a team of Reiki practitioners give Reiki to
patients. Reiki was first offered to patients in the Cancer Care Unit but has since expanded to other units
in the hospital after it had been proven that pain, chronic conditions, and post-operative surgery
conditions all responded well to Reiki.
One of the largest hospitals in Northern California is the California Pacific Medical Center and there, Dr.
Mike Cantwell, a pediatrician, provides availability of one to three hour-long Reiki sessions for his
patients. When asked how Reiki helps his patients Dr. Cantwell said, “I have found Reiki to be useful in
the treatment of acute illnesses such as musculoskeletal injury, pain, headaches, asthma and many
other issues.” Reiki is also useful for patients with chronic illnesses, especially those associated with
chronic pain.

How Reiki raises your energetic vibration & why that matters:

I saw this article on Mind Body Green and wanted to share it with you.
Vibration is the frequency at which our energy body resonates. We all feel and respond to each other's
vibrations even if we're not aware of it. It is the reason why we may be drawn to certain people, or
repelled by them. But why should we care whether or not we are operating at a higher vibration? The
higher our vibration, the more aligned we are with our greater purpose, in touch with our higher selves, &
living in the flow.  When this happens we are most connected with our true selves, as well as with others,
spreading light on a global & even universal scale. Since light always displaces darkness, profound
healing can occur when we make this shift. This is because we are all connected and what we do can
have a direct effect on others. This is particularly true on the energetic level, since energy travels so
quickly and is unseen by the naked eye. With lower or denser vibrations we feel or emulate anger,
hatred, rage or jealousy, among other negative emotions.  Although many of us will experience some of
these emotions at different points in our lives, living with these emotions on a regular basis can have
various harmful effects on our body, mind and spirit. Being in a denser or lower vibration constricts your
energy and obstructs the flow on many levels.
On a PHYSICAL level we may feel tired or exhausted, even if we are otherwise taking care of our bodies
by eating right, getting sleep, or engaging in physical activity. This kind of constriction often makes for
shallow breathing, as the flow of oxygen and blood to the body is greatly reduced, resulting in achy
and/or tight muscles. When blood flow is constricted, this also limits the nourishment to our body systems
(digestive, hormonal, adrenal, etc).
On the ENERGETIC level there is a similar effect. When we are resonating at a lower, denser vibration
our energy constricts & the Chakras (our energy centers in the body) become clouded and our aura is
depleted. The Aura is an electromagnetic field of energy that extends all around the body for about 4-5
feet.  It radiates the health of our physical, mental, emotional, as well as, spiritual energies & often
includes various colors.
In contrast, operating at a higher vibration nourishes our physical & energy bodies. With higher
vibrations we feel & emulate love, joy, hope & peace. Being human, we may feel these different emotions
at various points in our life & this is a normal part of life. The emphasis here is on being able to live from
a place of higher vibration in a way that works for our highest good & is sustainable in the long term.
PHYSICALLY, our bodies respond to a higher vibration with increased blood flow to tissues, muscles &
organs. Oxygen is carried to our blood & to the various systems throughout our bodies, nourishing them
more optimally.
ENERGETICALLY, love is the rock star of our highest vibration - it's where we ideally should be
operating from on a daily basis. When we radiate love at higher vibrations, we attract love in return. Our
Aura is healthy, our Chakras are more in balance & we acknowledge that we are joyous and are
experiencing joy.
So how does Reiki work to elevate our vibrations?
Reiki is a healing technique that was developed by a Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui in 1922 and has
since evolved into many practicing traditions. Reiki is defined as the all-knowing “Divine Universal Power”
& is the energy that animates all living things, flows through everything that is alive, including plants,
animals & humans, all things. Because Reiki is the channeling of Universal Energy, the person receiving
Reiki during a session pulls into them a kind of “spring cleaning” of the energy centers of the body, also
known as the Chakras. The Reiki practitioner goes through each Chakra and helps remove energetic
debris by honing in on any imbalances. The Universal Light Energy is then channeled into each Chakra.
Whenever light is infused into one's being, it illuminates that which has been held in the darkness of their
mind, thoughts and body. This darkness includes outdated patterns, beliefs, emotional pain that has
been suppressed over the years, or even energies that don't even belong to that person, but have
become embedded in their energy body.
The beauty about Reiki is that although the Reiki practitioner is the one facilitating the healing, the true
healer is the client. Everyone holds innate wisdom (even if they may not be in touch with it, are in denial
of it, or just not paying attention to what is happening in their own body.) Therefore, their body takes as
little or as much as is needed during a session for optimal healing. The Reiki Master is the conduit for
the energy to pass through into the client.
As Reiki helps us release what no longer serves us and heals the Chakras & energy fields that we
cannot see, we are more able to greatly own our power, align with our higher purpose & raise our
As we continue to open to this energy, begin to feel it's movement & release of heavy, dense energy, we
begin to be more in touch with the signals our body is sending us. We then begin to recognize them &
start to grow & evolve. It is a beautiful thing to see the progress made with a client as they begin to open
& flourish MIND-BODY-SPIRIT. Their mind becomes more clear & focused, their health is better, & their
vibration is much higher. They begin to see the synchronicities happening in their life & changes for the
better happening. I hope this helps to explain the great benefit of Reiki on your path to healing,
awakening & being the best that you can be.

What is Therapeutic Touch? (TT)
Therapeutic Touch is a contemporary healing modality drawn from ancient practices and developed by
Dora Kunz and Dolores Krieger, Phd, RN.  The practice is based on the scientific fact that human beings
are complex fields of energy, and that the ability to enhance healing in another is a natural potential in
Therapeutic Touch is used to balance and promote the flow of human energy.  It is taught in colleges
around the world and has a substantial base of formal and clinical research.  This research has shown
that TT is useful in
reducing pain, improving wound healing, aiding relaxation and easing the dying
Therapeutic Touch was started at Pumpkin Hollow Farm, a family camp and spiritual retreat center of the
Theosophical Society in the foothills of the Berkshires in New York state.
In 1972, Dora and her longtime student and colleague Dolores Krieger, Phd, RN developed Therapeutic
Touch.  They developed a program for teaching the procedures and attitudes necessary for TT.  Formal
classes began at Pumpkin Hollow where various physicians referred patients.
Even now there are extensive summer teaching sessions for TT at different levels at Pumpkin Hollow.
Dee and others lead these, as Dora did, until she passed away in 1999.  TT has become a widely
accepted form of alternative therapy in hospitals and other health agencies.  But it all began at Pumpkin
Hollow with two people in the healing arts who envisioned the possibilities of a wider use of an ancient
way of healing.

I received my certification in June 2003 from a first generation graduate, Evy Cugelman, RN, BA, who
was taught by Dora and Dolores at Pumpkin Hollow.  She continues to go back every summer and teach
classes there.  I am very honored to be one of her students, and in turn, a second generation student of
Dora Kunz and Dolores Krieger, Phd, RN.

What is Essential Oil Therapy?

Essential Oil Therapy combines the art of aromatherapy with the techniques of muscle tension release
work in the application of essential oils to various areas of the body, especially the soles of the feet.
Essential Oil therapy is a wonderful way to bring balance and harmony to the body - physically, mentally
and emotionally.
Practitioners in all types of healing have used therapeutic grade essential oils for thousands of years.
These oils add oxygen and nutrients to the cells.  Using therapeutic grade & clinical grade essential oils
can greatly benefit other natural healing processes.
The overuse of antibiotics and side effects of many drugs are a well-understood problem.  Natural
substances often offer more balanced alternatives to one dimensional drug treatments & can usually be
used in conjunction with their other medical treatment. If any questions or concerns oils can be left out of
the sessions until a later time.
Essential oils are particularly suited for gentle and effective intervention that goes beyond mere
symptom management.  The evolving scientific knowledge of cellular metabolism shed light on how plant
molecules are designed to address a multitude of conditions.  Molecules found in essential oils often
interact with different physiological target systems at the same time.  It is not unusual that the many
molecules found in a single essential oil interact in ways that even provide for natural feed back
mechanisms, thus hedging against undesirable side effects.
(paragraph taken from Bioexcel)
Most of all, enjoy the relaxation and healing properties of essential oils when seeing a practitioner for
your sessions.

When ready to heal more deeply, are there more options?

Yes, we can go deeper to help heal at a Soul level through Mind-Body-Soul Alignment.

What is Tao Mind-Body-Soul Alignment?  (MBSA)

Tao Mind-Body-Soul Alignment is Divine's Soul Hands clearing/healing at a soul level. The great
treasure of Mind-Body-Soul Alignment has been transmitted to chosen ones through the service of a
Divine Channel.
Chosen One means a person who has gone through the process of applying for &
receiving approval by Divine's Guidance & has gone through the training to be a certified Tao Mind-
Body-Soul Alignment practitioner..
To receive the gift of the ability to perform Tao MBSA is an honor beyond words, comprehension &
imagination. To be chosen to be a divine servant to humanity, Mother Earth & all souls is an honor
beyond anything I can express. I take this honor very seriously & look upon it as another way for me to
help serve others in their awakening & personal journey.

When a Tao MBSA practitioner offers a soul healing blessing, the MBSA treasure comes through the
hands of the MBSA practitioner to serve the recipient, as appropriate.
Permission has to be received first
to be able to even receive a Tao MBSA blessing.
MBSA blessings can be done in person if it is a one-
time  blessing or can be done remotely. According to how long a blessing will take & how many sessions
are needed, I have found it often best to do them remotely.

Tao MBSA is used to help clear the soul mind body blockages; physical conditions manifested in the

Why does Tao MBSA work?
Tao Mind-Body-Soul Alignment blessings remove soul mind body blockages little by little, Blockages are
in the mind & body. MBSA provides energetic healing and rejuvenation & removal of blockages in:
relationships, finances, children, intelligence and more, in order to help transform every aspect of life.

Tao Mind-Body-Soul Alignments carry Divine power, which includes:
Divine Frequency & Vibration, which can transform a life, including health, relationships, finances,
business, children, every aspect of life.
Divine Love, which melts all blockages & helps transform all life.
Divine Forgiveness, which brings inner joy & inner peace to all life.
Divine Compassion, which boosts energy, stamina, vitality & immunity of all life.
Divine Light, which helps heal, boosts immune system, purifies & rejuvenates soul, heart, mind, &
body and helps transforms every aspect of life.
The practitioner is just the vehicle/conduit for the Divine energy to flow through to the recipient. This is
Divine's energy, not the practitioner's. Sometimes the practitioner will get a no at that time to perform a
MBSA. That is not always a bad thing, it just may mean that the recipient needs to do further work before
MBSA sessions would be of benefit.  Also, sometimes the energy is so heavy or negative that it is not
safe for the practitioner to do the MBSA session.  The recipient would then be given a referral to a
Divine Master Channel for the sessions to be done.

Our clearing away of heavy, negative energy from our energetic body & our soul is a process. It is not all
done by just having visits to a Reiki Master & Tao MBSA practitioner.  There is much personal work to be
done & it takes time. There are layers to be peeled away, lessons to be learned so we Can release the
blockages, old patterns, traumas, & old beliefs that are no longer serving us & holding us back from
being our best in every aspect of our life.
So be kind to yourself, do not judge that you should be a certain way by now, or you should have made
better decisions in the past.  Everything is in Divine Order, we have gone through what we have so we
could learn & grow, even to see what didn't work so we know what we DO want now & what to strive for,
at this time.

The past is done, the future is wide open, we only have right NOW to start in the direction that we want
to go to make our life happier, healthier, wiser.
I am happy to take your hand & walk this path with you as you awaken to the great Power Within you,
growing & evolving into your greatest self.............finding The Goddess Within.

Benefits of Sound Therapy:

1. Sound can kill simple viruses.  In 2008 research mathematically determined the frequencies at
which simple viruses could be de-activated.  This arises from an inherent characteristic of all objects
called "resonant frequency": the frequency at which an object
naturally vibrates.

2. Sound can levitate:  In 2015 scientists in Spain & the UK were able to levitate small objects with
sound frequencies.

3. Sound can create light: Sonoluminescence is the emission of short bursts of light from imploding
bubbles in a liquid when excited by sound.  An intense amount of energy is created by the process as

4. Sound moves faster than light:  In 2007 scientists demonstrated that sound pulses can travel at
velocities faster than the speed of light. They also showed that the velocity of sound waves can become

By using sound therapy, along with the other modalities used in my sessions & classes we raise our
energetic vibration, helping us to come back into balance, release heavy, negative energy & be more
aligned. This higher vibration then radiates out from us, affecting everything around us, continuing
outward like ripples exponentially. Within our own body it helps us to fight off infections & to be more
physically, mentally and emotionally aligned.
